The gas beneath us has been there for 10 million years. 10 million years. Technology which utilizes CO2 instead of poison water is only a couple of years away. In the 10 million year history of that gas being beneath us officials in Rochester Hills, Waterford and White Lake are about to sell out at the absolute worst possible time.
Less destructive technology is right around the corner and I think it makes sense to hold out for a while. A moratorium of 20-50 years will surely raise everyone's property values and give us an assurance that we won't have to worry about earthquakes in White Lake.
If we let them in now with nearly obsolete technology everyone but a few will lose. According to the water expert at the recent Town Hall meeting property values will drop an average of 25% miles from the wells.
White Lake is a gem and we need to start treating it like one...
