Faith in Action Fundraiser Aims to Entertain and Raise Funds

On March 22, the Bogie Lake Greenhouse will host a fundraiser to help support the elderly of Oakland County for the second year in a row.

For the second year in a row, Bogie Lake Greenhouse will be donating the use of their retail space and helping to host the Faith in Action Wild Winter Strolling Appetizer Benefit.

The event takes place on Friday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. with all proceeds going to help support the non-profit group, Faith in Action, designed to assist the local elderly population in Oakland County.

“It matches up people who need assistance- like doing laundry or who just want to be read to or want a visitor,” said Patty Watkins, co-owner of Bogie Lake Greenhouse.

Watkins said she was unfamiliar with the organization before being approached by Faith in Action’s Jackie Smiertka to host last year’s event but quickly agreed to help after learning of their cause.

“She connects volunteers to the elderly people,” Watkins said. “And I like the idea she’s really encouraging people beyond Faith in Action, the non-denominational end of it, all faiths are included.”
