9 Little Ducklings Rescued From Wyandotte Alleyway
The critters are believed to be only a couple days old. A wildlife rehabilitator will now care for them.
Tracey Blessing was sitting in her backyard in the 1700 block of Superior on Thursday afternoon when she spotted several tiny fuzzballs.
She looked and discovered it was a line of little ducklings.
“At first, I said: “Aww. What cute ducklings’ like it’s normal,” she said. “But then I said, ‘That’s not right’ and started looking around.”

After calling , Blessing said, she discovered that another resident also had called about the ducklings. They had been put in a cage after their mom never returned for them. But somehow, the critters escaped the cage and were on the loose.
After catching the first one, Blessing said, she got some of her neighbors involved, who checked their yards and the nearby alleyway. About two hours later, seven ducklings had been caught.

“Then I just waited until I heard the chirping again,” Blessing said. “The hunt was on. They’re fast little buggers and they chirp like crazy.”
In the end, nine ducklings, who are believed to be just a couple days old, were rescued.
Blessing has a friend who is a licensed wildlife rehabilitator and has agreed to care for the animals until they’re able to be released on their own. The tradeoff is set to happen Friday.
“I talked to my rehabber friend and she told me what to do in the meantime,” Blessing said. “For now, the ducklings are in the house with me because they have to be kept warm. … I’m just happy we were able to catch and rescue them.”
