Art of the Deal: Wyandotte School District, Students Agree on Hallway Murals

Roosevelt High School walls that had murals will be used to showcase student art in the future.

A misunderstanding between students and the Wyandotte school district over hallway murals at Roosevelt High School that were painted over has resulted in a happy ending.

Wyandotte’s superintendent and a high-schooler who started an online petition concerning the 15-year-old artwork met last week and came to a compromise, according to a News-Herald report.

School officials explained the murals weren’t painted over to destroy student art but only to refurbish Roosevelt’s interior, the report stated. In the future, that wall space will be used in some manner to feature student artwork, the report added.
