Coastal Thai Brings Asian Food to Wyandotte

The family-owned restaurant has been in the works since July and opens today.

A new flavor is being added to the restaurant offerings in Wyandotte with the grand opening of Coastal Thai.

The family-owned eatery at 140 Sycamore opens at 4 p.m. today and is offering a half-off discount to the first 100 customers.

Sam Yang previously owned a Thai restaurant up north in West Branch. His daughter, Susan Yang, said the family was looking forward to opening a restaurant in metro Detroit and was happy to discover Wyandotte.

“We felt it was a good location and a nice family-oriented city,” she said. “We saw there wasn’t a variety of Asian foods in the area, so we thought we would open up and bring something new to the area.”

The family has been working on the inside of the business since July and said they’ve had many opportunities to meet people in the area.

“A lot of people have come by, saying they are excited that we are bringing Thai into town,” Susan Yang said. “They’ve been asking when our opening day will be. They’ve been excited and we’re looking forward to opening and meeting everyone.”

Hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 4 to 9 p.m. Saturdays.
