5th Friday and DIA Inside/Out

Biddle Gallery is proud to be selected for the second time as a location for the DIA Inside/Out Project. Now in its third year, Inside|Out brings reproductions of masterpieces from the DIA's collection to the streets of Wyandotte. Inside|Out aims to connect with audiences outside the museum walls in places where they live, work and play.

Outside Biddle Gallery:

On display on the north wall of Biddle Gallery will be Drummer Boy (1857) by Thomas Couture (French, 1815-1879). Drummer Boy will be displayed on the north wall of Biddle Gallery through June.

Selected Images from Eric Krimmel’s Illuminate-The Yearlong Photo-a-Day Project. On January 1st, 2010 Eric started Illuminate to create a photograph every day for an entire year. He was inspired to take on this challenge because he wanted to produce a new body of work, force himself to explore new ideas and concepts, engage a demanding and protracted venture, and place a priority on creativity every single day regardless of other responsibilities.   The project ended on December 31, 2010. Eric posted photographs every day for an entire year on his web site and Facebook. Illuminate was displayed at Grand Rapids Art Prize 2011 and was compiled as a digital book and self published exclusively for the iPad. Illuminate is on display at Biddle Gallery, March 17- April 14.

Carol Cook Reid releases new work for her Pathways Patterns Series: Nine Dancers. Nine Dancers features nine interchangeable Pathway Pattern Parts that were born to dance.  Carol also will bring lots of Pathway Patterns Parts. Visitors are invited to select parts to build patterns in a creative play arena.  The parts include interactive components with geometric designs.  During the 5th Friday event, participants will build a Mandala.

Ceramic wall sculptures, tiles, and jewelry by Biddle Gallery’s artist-in-residence, Elroy Grandy.
