Fundraiser for Historical “Martha-Mary” Henry Ford Chapel at St. Thomas Episcopal Church Trenton

Local church is raising funds to restore the century old chapel and you can help!

Founded in 1843, St. Thomas Episcopal Church is the oldest denomination in Trenton, Michigan and the 13th oldest Episcopal Church in the Diocese of Michigan. For over 103 years the church was located in downtown Trenton until a fire destroyed the buildings in 1946. In 1947 the “Martha-Mary” chapel was purchased by the church Vestry from the Henry Ford foundation and moved 82 miles from Macon, Michigan where it was located at the time at the Edison Institute School. It was a huge undertaking but, completed and installed. The crystal chandelier located in the building is also from the Henry Ford Foundation. The A-frame church was completed in 1968 and consecrated and dedicated in 1983.

St. Thomas Episcopal Church, remains active in the community today and continues to host many events and remains an historical site that the Trenton Community must continue to enjoy, however in order to do that, we are raising funds for the upkeep of the chapel!

The “Martha-Mary” Chapel is in need of repair on the steeple as the wood panels are falling apart and require new wood and paint. The fundraising Goal currently is to Raise $6,600 in 4 weeks. Any money raised to help our local church is so greatly appreciated! Please visit www.stthomastrenton.org today!
