Homeless Man’s Rude Awakening Redefines Dumpster Diving

A man who had bedded down in a large metal trash bin Thursday night awoke Friday morning just has he was being dumped into a garbage truck.

Talk about rude awakenings: A homeless Michigan man redefined Dumpster diving Friday when he survived a fall into a garbage truck from the large metal trash bin where he had been sleeping.

The 46-year-old man escaped serious injury when the driver of the garbage truck stopped the compactor when he heard yelling and screaming, the Detroit Free Press reports

The driver, who runs a pickup route in Holland, was about to dump a second Dumpster load of trash into the truck. The homeless man told authorities he was able to avoid being crushed when the first load was compacted.
