'Idol' Returns to Detroit With Aretha Franklin for 2 Live Shows
Fox's singing competition will be shooting at the Filmore Detroit on Wednesday and Thursday.

American Idol makes a return engagement to Detroit this week, and they’re doing it with hometown musical legend Aretha Franklin, according to a Detroit Free Press report.
The Fox singing competition program will shoot it’s first two live episodes of this season Wednesday, March 4, and Thursday, March 6, at the FIlmore Detroit, the report stated. Last week’s episodes were taped at that venue about two weeks ago, the report added.
Franklin, who has been taping segments already this week, will appear on the show as a mentor to contestants and will perform on Wednesday night’s episode, the report stated. No contestants from the state are appearing on this season of American Idol.
