Excited and distracted by the music playing in the store, a Downriver man left a wad of cash on a convenience store counter.

A Downriver man’s absentmindedness cost him about $300.
In a roundup of recent police calls in Melvindale, The News-Herald reported the man realized he had left $290 on the counter of the 7-Eleven store at 18200 block of Allen Road about 7 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 30.
He had taken the roll of cash out of his pocket to buy a money order, counted out what was needed and then left the rest behind. He told police he had been excited and distracted by the music.

He realized his costly error while walking home, but when he returned about 20 minutes late, the cash was gone.
