Wyandotte's Beauty Lounge Opens with Pizzazz

Mary Karasinski has styled hair in New York City and Chicago, but said she's excited to open her first salon right here in Wyandotte.

"I couldn't have asked for a better location," she said.

The Beauty Lounge, 2909 Biddle, hosted its grand opening, set off by classic cars and models, on Friday.

Karasinski said she chose Wyandotte because of the downtown atmosphere.

"I love all the events that Wyandotte puts on," she said. "I wanted my salon to be in an urban walking area."

The Aveda Institute graduate has been a stylist for 11 years and said she's looking forward to becoming a business owner, as well.

Her salon, which has a vintage theme and sells boutique items, will feature Aveda hair products and MAC Cosmetics. Five stylists and two makeup artists are on staff. 

The salon also has sushi catered in, and serves wine, champagne and cappuccino to its customers.

Karasinski said she's previously hosted a charity fashion show and would like to do similar events in Wyandotte.

Salon hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays. To schedule an appointment, call 734-720-1440.
