Wyandotte Students' Artwork Featured in Congressional Art Competition
The artwork of 13 Roosevelt High School students will be displayed at the Detroit Public Library.

The artwork of several students will be on display at the main branch of the Detroit Public Library.
The 13 Wyandotte students join dozens of others from Michigan's 13th Congressional district in the Artistic Discovery Contest, a nationwide high school arts competition sponsored by the members of the U.S. House of Representatives.
The 2012 competition is co-chaired by U.S. Rep. Hansen Clarke, whose 13th District includes Wyandotte. In addition to being a lawmaker, Clarke holds a bachelor's degree in fine arts for painting from Cornell University.

“As an artist and lawmaker, I deeply appreciate the dedication, effort and sacrifice required to create works of art," Clarke said. "The fact that our high school students have submitted artwork in the Congressional Art Competition stands as a testament to their determination to bring joy to others through their artwork.”
The Congressional Art Competition is a national exhibition coordinated by members of Congress. Since its inception in 1982, the competition has recognized nearly 4,500 local contests and 650,000 high school students. The winning piece of art from each Congressional district is displayed in the Cannon Tunnel, which is a walkway leading to the U.S. Capitol.
