10 MN Counties See Big Gains In Population: U.S. Census
Overall, Minnesota's population grew to more than 5,700,000 in 2020, a 7.6 percent increase since 2010.
CARVER COUNTY, MN — Minnesota's population grew to more than 5,700,000 in 2020, a 7.6 percent increase since 2010, according to the data released by the United States Census Bureau Thursday.
No other county grew as fast as Carver, which saw a 17.4 percent growth in population between 2010 and 2020. The county gained nearly 16,000 people over that 10 year period.
Here are the ten counties in Minnesota that grew the most since 2010:

- Carver County: 17.4 percent growth
- Scott County: 16.2 percent growth
- Wright County: 13.3 percent growth
- Olmsted County: 12.9 percent growth
- Washington County: 12.4 percent growth
- Hennepin County: 11.2 percent growth
- Clay County: 10.7 percent growth
- Dakota County: 10.4 percent growth
- Anoka County: 10.0 percent growth
- Sherburne County: 9.8 percent growth
Meanwhile, these nine Minnesota counties lost more than five percent of their population:
- Traverse County: 5.6 percent loss
- Norman County: 6 percent loss
- Murray County: 6.3 percent loss
- Renville County: 6.4 percent loss
- Lake of the Woods County: 7 percent loss
- Lac qui Parle County: 7.4 percent loss
- Kittson County: 7.6 percent loss
- Yellow Medicine County: 8.7 percent loss
- Kooching County: 9.4 percent loss
Kooching County experienced the worst drop-off of all, with its population falling from 13,311 in 2010 to 12,062 in 2020.
