Landslide At MN State Park Leaves 1 Dead, Authorities Say

MANKATO, MN — A 19-year-old man died in a landslide at Minneopa State Park Falls Saturday afternoon, the Blue Earth County Sheriff's Office said in a news release Saturday night.

Officials said they found the man trapped under a collapsed part of the earth after receiving a 911 call around 5 p.m. He was pronounced dead after he was recovered from the soil and rock, according to officials.

An investigation is ongoing and the sheriff's office said it will release more information when available.

Minneopa State Park was established in 1905 to preserve Minneopa Falls, a large waterfall in southern Minnesota. The park is located mostly on the south side of the Minnesota River, three miles west of Mankato.
