22 Suspected Marijuana Plants Seized From MN Tobacco Store: Police

Recreational marijuana became legal Tuesday, but the state isn't ready to distribute licenses to commercial dispensaries yet.

FARIBAULT, MN — Police in Faribault say are investigating after they seized 22 suspected marijuana plants for sale at a local business.

As of Tuesday, Minnesotans 21 and older can grow and possess certain amounts of marijuana. However, the state is not yet providing licenses for commercial dispensaries, and stores cannot sell recreational cannabis without one. The only exception is the tribal nations.

"The Faribault Police Department is committed to supporting businesses engaged in the legal sale of cannabis and cannabis-related products once the Minnesota Office of Cannabis Management is established," Chief John Sherwin said in a statement.
