MINNEAPOLIS — KARE 11 anchor Julie Nelson announced June 16 that she and her husband, Kurt Krumenauer, were injured in a one-boat accident and are recovering.
"We were both treated for non-life threatening injuries, so I will be off the air while I take some time to heal and recover," Nelson wrote on social media. "I'm grateful for the outpouring of love and support that's been shown to me and my family."
Polk County law enforcement confirmed the crash occurred on Balsam Lake near Pine Island in Wisconsin around 11 p.m. on June 13. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is investigating.
Nelson, 54, has co-anchored KARE 11's 5, 6 and 10 p.m. newscasts since joining the station in 2003. No return date has been announced.
