ROCHESTER, MN — Minnesota's Mayo Clinic remains the top hospital in Minnesota and nationwide, according to the new 2026-2027 Best Hospitals ranking released Tuesday by U.S. News and World Report.
The annual report, now in its 37th year, is intended to help patients compare hospitals when they need anything from a common procedure, such as a knee replacement, to specialized treatment for a serious or complex illness.
This year, U.S. News also introduced regional specialty rankings for cancer; cardiology, heart and vascular surgery; orthopedics; and rehabilitation, giving patients another way to identify highly rated care closer to home.
Mayo Clinic, the top hospital in Minnesota, was nationally ranked in 14 adult specialties and rated high performing in 22 procedures and conditions. It also earned a spot on U.S. News' national Honor Roll, a distinction given to just 20 hospitals nationwide.
Mayo ranked No. 1 in the country for diabetes and endocrinology and for gastroenterology and GI surgery, and placed in the top five nationally in cardiology, heart and vascular surgery (No. 3), orthopedics (No. 3), pulmonology and lung surgery (No. 3), urology (No. 3), cancer (No. 4), rheumatology (No. 4) and neurology and neurosurgery (No. 5).
