Breakthrough COVID Cases Continue In MN, But Make Up Small Number
The 18,790 cases of COVID in vaccinated people, called "breakthrough cases," represent 0.610 percent of fully vaccinated Minnesotans.
MINNESOTA—Another 2,971 vaccinated people have been infected with COVID as of Monday out of 11,684 new infections in the past week, the Minnesota Star Tribune reports.
The 18,790 cases of COVID in vaccinated people, called "breakthrough cases," represent 0.610 percent of those fully vaccinated Minnesotans. In total, 1,095 of these people have been hospitalized (0.036 percent of vaccinated people) and 108 have died (0.004 percent of vaccinated people), according to state data.
The Star Tribune reports the Minnesota Department of Health has linked 69 cases of COVID to the Minnesota State Fair.

On Monday, the state reported 2,255 confirmed new cases of COVID and 438 probable new cases in its daily report. Another 11 people have died, all aged 50 or above.
In total since the start of the pandemic, there have been 669,176 positive cases and 7,903 deaths, according to state Department of Health data. Just over 3 million Minnesotans have been fully vaccinated.
