Coronavirus: 20 Minnesota Counties Have Recorded At Least 1 Death

Winona County, which is smaller than the city of Apple Valley, has recorded 14 deaths from the new coronavirus.

MINNESOTA — Twenty counties in Minnesota have recorded at least one death related to the new coronavirus, according to data released by the state health department. Many of those counties have very small populations and are located in rural Minnesota. Winona County, which last just over 50,000 people — smaller than the city of Apple Valley — has recorded 14 deaths from the new coronavirus.

Hennepin County, which is Minnesota's most populated county, leads the state with 188 deaths.

More than 100 Minnesotans have died from the new coronavirus in the past five days, according to numbers released by the state health department. Fourteen more deaths were recorded Monday, bringing Minnesota's overall toll to 286.

More than 3,800 people in the state have tested positive for the virus. Of those, over 1,800 are out of isolation.
