Edina Now Among Minnesota Cities To Require Masks In Public

TWIN CITIES, MN — Edina is now among the cities in Minnesota that require people to wear masks in public spaces as a way to combat the spread of coronavirus.
The Edina City Council held a special meeting June 29 and agreed that requiring masks is a reasonable step to protect public health during the pandemic.
Health officials are increasingly urging non-medical workers to wear facial coverings to prevent the transmission of respiratory droplets that contain the virus.

Research shows masks can reduce the risk of transmission by an infected person as a force multiplier for social distancing and proper hand washing, according to a news release.
The city of Rochester and the University of Minnesota also began enforcing mask mandates this week. Minneapolis and St. Paul have been enforcing their mask policies since May.
