MINNESOTA —The state's Pharmacy Vaccine Network expanded Monday when Gov. Tim Walz announced Hy-Vee, the grocery store chain and pharmacy, will begin administering the COVID-19 vaccine this week.

According to a release, Hy-Vee is expected to administer 10,000 doses of the vaccine this week to adults 65 years of age and older at more than 30 of its stores in the state.

Appointments will be available in the coming days, and the state's Vaccine Locator Map will be a valuable resource for store locations and contact information for scheduling these appointments. The state also will utilize the Vaccine Connector to notify signed up seniors about this new vaccine opportunity.

"We're working to mobilize every opportunity we have to get our Minnesota seniors vaccinated as quickly and safely as possible," Walz said. "Today we're expanding our options for how Minnesotans can get vaccinated and while supply remains frustratingly limited, we will keep working relentlessly to build our provider network and get shots into the arms of our most vulnerable populations."

Now, Hy-Vee, Walmart and Thrifty White are the three pharmacies in the state participating in the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program that launched earlier this month.
