HASTINGS, MN — A creamery in Hastings has closed after it leaked milk into the city’s sewer system earlier this summer, according to reports.

Hastings Creamery is run by a group of farmers focused on sustainable methods and has been in business for over 100 years, MPR News reported.

The Metropolitan Council in June disconnected the creamery from Hastings sewers after the business leaked thousands of gallons of dairy products into the local wastewater plant, according to the Star Tribune. The creamery had been bringing its wastewater to St. Paul as milk prices dropped due to excess supply, the Tribune reported.
