Minnesotan Dies From COVID-19 After Sturgis Motorcycle Rally
South Dakota's Sturgis Motorcycle Rally took place Aug. 7 through Aug. 16.

MINNESOTA — A rider who participated in South Dakota's Sturgis Motorcycle Rally has died from COVID-19, the Minnesota Department of Health announced Wednesday. The 60-year-old man was hospitalized and placed into the ICU after he was infected.
The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally took place Aug. 7 through Aug. 16.
So far, 49 Minnesotans who were at the Sturgis rally have tested positive for the virus, health officials tell the Star Tribune. That total is on top of the cases reported in other states.

As of Wednesday, 1,830 Minnesotans have died from COVID-19 since the virus spread to the state.
