MN High School Football Team Under Criminal Investigation

The team's head coach, Derek Parendo​, resigned and the season was canceled in September following a complaint of student misconduct.

PROCTOR, MN — The St. Louis County Attorney’s Office Monday said it's reviewing evidence from a criminal investigation into members of the Proctor High School football program.

"The County Attorney’s Office is aware of the community’s interest and desire to see timely results of the criminal investigation," Kimberly Maki, the St. Louis County attorney, said in a statement.

"Given the amount of evidence to review, it is impossible to commit to a specific timeline."

"I resigned because of the toxic environment at Proctor," Parendo told FOX 21.

Rumors about the nature of the allegations have circulated in the small community of Proctor — a town of about 3,000 located just outside of Duluth — but district and city officials have refrained from providing any details.

After the review, the office could file criminal charges.
