MN Woman Found Dead In NYC Garbage Chute

Foul play is not suspected in the death of Jaclyn Elmquist, the New York Police Department told the New York Post.

NEW YORK CITY — The body of a Minnesotan woman who went missing after a work party in New York City on Nov. 30 was discovered a day later in the trash chute of a building in Manhattan.

Foul play is not suspected in the death of Jaclyn Elmquist, the New York Police Department told the New York Post.

Her body was discovered on Friday, Dec. 1 at 540 West 28th Street. Police responded to the scene that day at about 2:40 p.m.

Missing posters helped police identify her body.

"My cousin Jackie Elmquist has been missing since last night after she left a work party in Manhattan – she didn’t come home or show up for work this morning please spread the word so people in the area can see it since all of her family lives here in Minnesota," wrote Katlyn Kampmeier on X before her cousins's body was found.

Elmquist is originally from South St. Paul and had been living in Brooklyn at the time of her death, KARE 11 reported.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to support Elmquist's family.

After her sister's death was confirmed, Maddy Elmquist asked people to "please remember our brilliant, creative, adventurous, beautiful girl for who she is, not the circumstances of her passing."

The cause of her death has not yet been released by the city's medical examiner.
