Police Identify Woman Beheaded In Shakopee

SHAKOPEE, MN — A woman who was found decapitated Wednesday has been identified as a Shakopee resident. The man accused in her death has been arrested, authorities said.

America M. Thayer, 55, was killed on Spencer Street South in Shakopee, authorities said. She was identified by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office, which ruled her death a homicide.

Alexis Saborit, 42, faces a charge of second-degree intentional murder in her death. He is being held on a $2.5 million bail at Scott County Jail.

Saborit faces up to 40 years in prison if convicted on the charge.

Saborit told police he dated Thayer for several years, according to the criminal complaint. Saborit admitted that he killed Thayer after she threatened to break up with him, police said
