Split Rock Lighthouse Closes After Lightning Strike
The strike caused no injuries or structural damage. However, it did damage internal systems at the visitor center.
TWO HARBORS, MN — The Split Rock Lighthouse will remain closed Tuesday and Wednesday following a lightning strike that hit the historic structure's visitor center.
Officials say that there were no injuries, and no historic buildings were damaged. The strike hit a tree in the parking lot on Monday and connected with a light pole, causing the current to travel inside the visitor center.
The strike affected some of the visitor center's internal systems.
