4-Year-Old Dies After Apple Valley Dad Left Him In Hot Car: Cops

The 26-year-old Apple Valley man was charged with manslaughter after his son died Saturday.

RAMSEY COUNTY, MN — Police say a 4-year-old died over the weekend after his father left him in a hot car in Saint Paul. Kristopher Alexander Taylor, 26, of Apple Valley was arrested at Regions Hospital after bringing his son there Saturday.

The boy was pronounced dead on arrival, KSTP reports. Taylor was charged with second-degree manslaughter Monday.

The boy was left in a parking lot outside CHS Field while his father worked a shift at the park, the criminal complaint states. The lot was completely exposed to the sun, according to police.

"He said he couldn't find anyone to watch his son, and that the last time he checked on the boy was at 11:30 a.m.," the complaint states. Taylor reportedly found his son unresponsive at around 5 p.m.

"Taylor said he didn't think it was that hot. Taylor said he had done it once in the past about a year ago and nothing bad happened to the boy on that occasion, but he admitted he had left the window entirely down that time."
