9-Year-Old Killed In ATV Crash In Dakota County
The boy lived in the neighborhood and was operating a smaller-sized ATV over dirt piles on an open lot near his residence, police said.
DAKOTA COUNTY, MN — Police say a 9-year-old died Tuesday evening in an All-Terrain Vehicle crash. On April 21 at 6:30 p.m., the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of an ATV rollover involving a boy in the city of Randolph.
Deputies arrived in less than five minutes and joined an off-duty nurse and firefighter in providing lifesaving efforts to the boy, according to a news release.
Despite their efforts, he died on scene. The boy, identified as Carter Nicolai, lived in the neighborhood and was operating a smaller-sized ATV over dirt piles on an open lot near his residence.

The rollover was unwitnessed and reported by a passerby who had found Carter unresponsive and underneath the ATV, according to police.
