Air Traffic gets creative with disc golf and video for summer “DiscIt. FilmIt. WinIt.” YouTube Video Contest
School’s out for summer and Air Traffic invites anyone who loves the outdoors—and disc golf—to grab their discs, video cameras and start filming! Air Traffic, a family-owned skills-based toy store with six Minnesota locations, is launching a YouTube video contest on June 21 to celebrate summer and encourage kids, and adults alike, to embrace the warm weather, grab a disc and have some fun! The contest, “DiscIt. FilmIt. WinIt.,” runs June 21 – July 17 with videos due by July 9.
“Many people may know us well as it relates to kites. That’s how Air Traffic came to be—from my discovery and love of stunt kites,” commented Air Traffic owner and founder, Jim Henry. “What started as a kite store out of my home in 1987 has grown into this wonderful business with six locations across the state of Minnesota for anyone who loves skill-based games. We promote play. We are play. We love to play.”

Air Traffic is one of the largest retailers of disc golf supplies in Minnesota. The stores also carry yo-yos, kites, kendamas, juggling equipment and other skill toys. The “DiscIt. FilmIt. WinIt.” Video contest is Air Traffic’s way to bring technology into the world of outdoor games, while at the same time, encouraging kids and parents to play together; to come out from behind the screens and enjoy the Minnesota summer together. “There is such a short window of time in Minnesota to get in on the disc golf scene. In fact, our video contest is launching around this year’s Minnesota Majestic disc golf tournament—perfect timing for those who aren’t in the tournament but who have a love of the game nonetheless. We want to see how creative Minnesota disc golfers can get—whether it’s crazy tricks they can do with a disc or styles of throwing on the course—it’s a way to promote healthy play and activities we can all do together. It’s something everyone can be a part of.” owner Jim Henry said.
Contestants are encouraged to submit videos no longer than two minutes demonstrating their disc golf skills. This includes anything from on-the-course skills to throwing techniques and standing tricks. “DiscIt. FilmIt. WinIt.” is open to Minnesota residents ages 13 years or older. Winners will be chosen (first, second and third place) by the amount of “likes” their video receives on YouTube. Videos are due by July 9 and winners will be chosen by July 17.
