Apple Valley Author’s Book Wins a Midwest Book Award

(Apple Valley) – Apple Valley businessman Jeff Appelquist is getting a lot of attention for his profound insight into what it takes to succeed in business. His latest book, Wisdom is Not Enough, which motivates people to take a closer look at their leadership style, was just named one of the best business books published in the Midwest in 2011.

Appelquist’s book was one of three finalists in the business book category of the 22nd annual Midwest Book Awards and it won the competition for best hardbound cover. The winners were announced the evening of May 9, 2012, at the Bloomington Center for the Arts.

Appelquist’s first book, Sacred Ground: Leadership Lessons From Gettysburg & The Little Bighorn won the 2010 National Indie Excellence Award for Military History, the 2010 Writer’s Digest International Award for Nonfiction and the 2010 Midwest Book Award for best business book.

Wisdom is not Enough is one of fifteen Beaver’s Pond Press books published in 2011 that won recognition in this year’s competition. The awards program, sponsored by the Midwest Independent Publishers Association, recognizes books for their creativity in content and execution, overall quality and their unique contribution to its subject area.

“We had eight first place winners and 14 finalists. I am very proud of our staff and authors,” said chief publishing executive, Tom Kerber.
