The band will be under different leadership for part of its Wednesday concert this week, <a href="http://www.startribune.com/local/south/122206394.html" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">according to an article from the Minneapolis Star Tribune</a>. Senior student Jordan Jenkins will conduct the band as members play one of his original compositions, called "Anthem," which <a href="http://www.startribune.com/local/south/122206394.html" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">the article says</a> he wrote last fall with guidance from a St. Olaf College professor. Jenkins, who the article says has been playing music since he was 3, has done other arrangements for his jazz group and is a member of rock bands outside of school. He'll go onto study political science and bass performance at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in the fall. The Apple Valley High School spring band concert is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the school's theater; the concert will be followed by an awards ceremony.
