Apple Valley Police: Road Shoulder Not For Driving
New temporary signs will warn drivers in Apple Valley not to pass on the shoulder.
APPLE VALLEY, MN — As you go on your daily drive to work, school or play, Apple Valley police want motorists to remember that passing on the shoulder is illegal. Temporary signs and traffic barrels on McAndrews Road (County Road 38) at Dorchester Trail will be placed this week to warn drivers.
Police in Apple Valley are increasing enforcement to advise motorists that this activity is not legal or safe.
Passing on the shoulder is dangerous for pedestrians and traffic turning onto side roads, authorities said.
Dakota County and the city of Apple Valley are working together to increase awareness and public safety. The signs will be up for about a week, according to officials.
