'Lock Doors. Turn Lights Off': DCTC Lockdown Lifted

A report of a gun on campus led to a lockdown of Dakota County Technical College Wednesday.

ROSEMOUNT, MN — Dakota County Technical College was placed on lockdown for about an hour Wednesday afternoon after a report of a man carrying a firearm in a holster, authorities said. "This is not a drill," the school said on Facebook. "Remain where you are. Lock doors. Turn lights off."

Dakota County Technical College policy prohibits firearms on campus. The school was placed on lockdown just after 1:30 p.m. and a search was conducted. "The subject was not located," authorities said, and the lockdown was released at 2:45 p.m.

There is no known threat to the campus at this time, according to police. The Dakota County Sheriff's Office will continue to investigate the report.
