This spring, districts across Minnesota made the abrupt switch to full-time distance learning in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. As we come to the end of the 2019-20 school year, we are collecting feedback from parents/guardians, students* and educators about their experience with distance learning. Results from these various surveys will help us gather ideas and expectations for how returning to school this fall could look.

While District 196 will follow the guidance of the state regarding the reopening of schools, at this time it appears that possibilities for fall may include a hybrid model, involving both distance learning and in-person learning at school, and a full-time distance learning option. Your input is vital for our district planning team to develop specifics of the hybrid and full-time distance learning models.

This optional survey is now available and will remain open through 11:59 p.m., Friday, June 19.

The feedback will also be used to guide in-depth conversations during upcoming focus groups. The opportunity to sign up for a possible role on a focus group is available in the survey.

Under this regulation, parents/guardians also have the right to inspect the survey before administering it to their student and/or opt their student out from taking the survey. Therefore, the district will not make the student survey available on our website, instead including it in a SchoolMessenger announcement and letting parents decide whether to share it with their student.
