District 196 High Schools Earn High Rank In U.S News Best High Schools Report

All four, four-year high schools in District 196 are in the top 60 high schools in Minnesota, according to U.S. News & World Report’s 2020 ranking of the nation’s Best High Schools.

Eastview and Eagan are both in the top 10 among Minnesota high schools, ranking fourth and ninth, respectively. At No. 4, Eastview is the highest ranked public high school in Minnesota. Rosemount is 21st and Apple Valley is 57th in the magazine’s ranking of 879 Minnesota high schools, published in April.

The School of Environmental Studies, a two-year optional high school in District 196, is ranked 142.

The criteria for the rankings include performance on state reading and math assessments, the performance of historically underserved groups of students, curriculum breadth, graduation rate, and college readiness measured by the percentage of students who took and passed at least one Advanced Placement exam.
