Five Questions: Rosemount Wrestler Adam Jackson

Jackson one of five Rosemount wrestlers headed to Xcel Energy Center this weekend.

Adam Jackson (38-3 on the season), son of Joel and Nikki Jackson, is heading back to state at 152 pounds after being the state runner-up at that weight last season.

Q: Besides wrestling, what other school activities are you involved in?
A: I’ve been on student council for three years and this year was elected to secretary, National Honor Society member, Spanish Honor Society, wrestling captain, volunteer with my church.

Q: As a returning state competitor what did you learn last time that you think will help you this time.
A:
It was a great experience and I feel great to be going again. You can't let the lights, crowd, and atmosphere psych you out or overwhelm you. Also, enjoy the moment. Lots of good wrestlers never make it to the Xcel.

Q: Who was the first person you called/texted/etc. to tell you were going to state, and why were they at the top of your list?
A: A lot of my friends and family were at sections. My grandma had texted me earlier that day, so I did text her back to let her know. She’s always been a huge supporter.

Q: How difficult is it for you to maintain your weight during the season, and what is the one thing you're looking forward to pigging out on once the season's over?
A: Honestly, not too bad, due to our hard practices. No one works harder than Rosemount wrestlers. I eat really healthy during wrestling to keep my energy up. That said, I will be going to get Jucie Lucies and to Chipotle after state.

Q: If you could go on any reality TV show, what show would you pick, why would you pick it and how do you think you would do?
A: Ultimate Fighter, for sure. I love that show and as a wrestler I think I would do well there.

Editor's note: Check back later this week for responses from the other four Rosemount state qualifiers.
