Fundraiser For Family Of Rosemount Father Reaches Goal

Jared Lazer was killed just hours before Father's Day.

DAKOTA COUNTY, MN — A fundraiser established for a Rosemount family mourning the loss of their father and husband has reached its goal. More than $130,000 has been donated to the GoFundMe for Jared Lazer, who was killed in a car crash hours before Father's Day.

Jared's wife Jillayne Lazer was driving a Chevrolet Traverse west on 190th Street with her husband Jared, 34, and their three children, ages 5, 5, and 2.

Witnesses told police that a Ford F-150, driven by 36-year-old Jon Fontaine of Farmington with his 12-year-old son in a passenger seat, was traveling south on Goodwin Avenue and did not slow for the stop sign.

The pickup went through the intersection and collided with the front end of the Traverse, causing it to roll, authorities said. Both vehicles ended up in the southwest ditch of the intersection.

Jared Lazer and Jon Fontaine died at the scene. The five other victims were transported to hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

"The family is overwhelmed with the love and support from family, friends and the community," Jacob Bottem recently wrote on GoFundMe for the Lazer's.

"Although Jillayne and Peyton are still in the hospital, they are on the road to recovery. Thank you to everyone for your generous donations, thoughts and prayers for this amazing family."
