Irish girls hockey advances to section finals after OT win against the Hastings Raiders

The Rosemount Irish girls hockey team edged out the Hasting Raiders in a closely contested game that ran into overtime.

The Raiders took first to the scoreboard in the first period with a power play goal by Josie Stepan and assists by Courtney Boucher and Hannah Simons at 2:10 into the period. Taylor Sampson of Rosemount Irish answered back at 7:17 into the period with a goal assisted by Rachael Kelly. After tieing up the game in the first period the Kendra Goodrich made good on a power play with assists from teammates Alison Micheletti and Rachael Kelly near the end of the first period.

The score stood at 2-1 Rosemount and it remained that way through the second period. It was not until late in the third period that Hastings Raider's Sami Clauseen made a goal with an assist by Danielle Duffy 14:23 into the period. That tied the game at 2-2,  and pushed the game into overtime.

Kendra Goodrich ended the game with a goal just 2:54 into overtime with assists from Rachael Kelly and Taylor Sampson.

The girls now go on to play #2 seeded Eastview on Wednesday Feb. 16 at 7:30pm in the VMCC of Inver Grove Heights for Section 3AA finals.
