The Rosemount girls tennis team defeated Brainerd 4-3 in a back-and-forth matchup during Tuesday’s Class AA state quarterfinal at the University of Minnesota Baseline Tennis Center.
The Irish advanced to Wednesday’s semifinal, which begins at 10 a.m. against Rochester Mayo. The winner will play for the championship at 4 p.m., while the loser will play for third place at 2 p.m.
Tuesday’s match was won thanks in large part to Rosemount’s singles play. Virginia Norder won at No. 1 singles, Alison Baker won at No. 2 singles and Kirsten Hoffmann won at No. 4 singles. Meanwhile, Rachel Hoffmann and Rachel Olson won at No. 3 doubles to secure the one-point victory.

Brainerd went on to face Minnetonka in the consolation semifinals on Tuesday night.
