Come visit your local fire station at its open house. Meet your firefighters. See the fire equipment. Enjoy some refreshments.
Open houses are scheduled from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on selected days, according to a news release.

Open Houses are Scheduled as follows:
Station 1 (15000 Hayes Road): Tuesday, October 11th
Station 2 (13995 Galaxie Avenue): Wednesday, October 12th
Station 3 (14195 Essex Avenue): Thursday, October 13th
The National Fire Prevention Association is focusing this year's National Fire Prevention Week. The "Don't Wait Check The Date" campaign urges citizens to replace smoke alarms every 10 years.

This marks the third year in a row the NFPA has focused on smoke alarms because according to survey data the public has many misconceptions about smoke alarms, which may put them at increased risk in the event of a home fire, the association said.
