APPLE VALLEY, MN — Local business are chipping in for an Eastview High School graduation party after more than $8,700 was allegedly stolen from the parent group in charge of planning the bash. Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom announced that Jill Lynn Fiedler, 38, of Rosemount was charged this week with felony theft in connection with the loss of about $8,727.00 from a high school senior party group.
The criminal complaint alleges Fiedler stole this money by fraudulently writing checks to herself and paying for her PayPal account while she was volunteering as the treasurer for the parent group planning the senior graduation party at Eastview High School in Apple Valley.
After news broke, Dairy Queen, Papa Murphy’s and Chik-fil-A donated money this week for the party, the Pioneer Press reported. “The party is still on,” Yolanda Gant, chair of the planning committee, told the newspaper. “The committee is doing all they can, and donors are helping make up the difference that was lost.”
