Join Friends of the Mississippi River at Apple Valley Senior Center on Tuesday, June 28 from 6-7:30 p.m. to make and take your own rain barrel - just $35!
Lawn and garden watering typically makes up 40% of total household summer water usage. Rain barrels offer one of the simplest, high-impact ways to save water and help protect our watershed from polluted runoff. This workshop will begin with a presentation on how home lawn and garden practices impact our waters and how we can make a difference. Next, we will discuss the watershed-friendly benefits of rain barrels, then review hot to build, incorporate, install, and maintain them. With guidance from FMR staff, participants will then build their own rain barrel to take home following the workshop.
