Memorial For Rosemount Soldier to be Held on Friday

Spc. Andrew C. Wilfahrt will be buried in a private ceremony.

A memorial service will be held on Friday for Rosemount soldier was killed in Afghanistan.

Spc. Andrew C. Wilfahrt, 31, died on Feb. 27 in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered during an improvised explosive device attack on his patrol.

His memorial will take place on Friday, March 4 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Fort Snelling Officers' Club at Highway 5 and Post Road.

In the memorial notice, Wilfahrt is remembered as a man who "loved music" and was fascinated by "math, palindromes, maps, patterns, mashed potatoes and the absurd."

His family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The American Civil Liberties Union, The Minnesota Armed Services Center or OutFront Minnesota.

Wilfahrt is survived by his parents Jeff and Lori, brother Peter and sister Martha.

Wilhart will be buried in a private ceremony.
