Rosemount Falls Short Against Lakeville South in Senior Legion Play

Two innings of hot offense weren't enough to overcome the Cougars.

Lakeville South defeated Rosemount 7-3 Tuesday evening in Senior Legion league play at Lakeville South High School.

The first and seventh innings were productive for Rosemount, but their bats were silent for most of the game.

“We lacked some focus when trying to drive in runs,” Rosemount Head Coach Rick Myskewitz said. “But in those two innings we really played some good offense.”

As the game started, it looked as though Rosemount was going to play a game of hot bats. They scored their first run off of a sacrifice fly to take an early 1-0 lead after the first inning.

The Cougars would respond, though. In the next couple of innings, left fielder Will Lundquist batted in two runs, and center fielder Garrett Delich hit a double to score two more runs for the Cougars to lead after four innings, 4-1.

Lakeville South extended its lead to six runs, 7-1, in the fifth inning after Rosemount mishandled a fly ball.

Then, in the seventh inning, Rosemount’s bats came alive once more as shortstop Lucas Haase and first baseman John Bishop each drove in a run, but it was too little too late as the Cougars were able to squash the late Rosemount rally.
