Rosemount Middle Schooler Wins State Math Honor
Eighth-grader is one of four Minnesota students headed to national tourney in May.

A Rosemount Middle School eighth-grader is one of four Minnesota math students headed to a national tourney in Washington D.C. in May.
Utkarsh Koshti won the honor after finishing second in the state MATHCOUNTS competition, which took place Saturday in Plymouth.
The 28th annual competition pitted "mathletes" in a series of individual and team contests in which calculators were not allowed. Koshti and the other three top finalists bested 122 other competitors representing 42 schools from across Minnesota.
The top four individual winners are listed below in the order of their finish:
- Daniel Qu, 7th grade, Wayzata Central Middle School, Plymouth
- Utkarsh Koshti, 8th grade, Rosemount Middle School, Rosemount
- Jenica Zhong, 8th grade, Wayzata Central Middle School
- Vincent Dzik, 8th grade, Capitol Hill Magnet. St. Paul
The four students will comprise the Minnesota state team, which will compete in the national MATHCOUNTS competition against of field of teams from around the U.S.
