Rosemount Mom Used Sex Toy Company's PayPal In Theft: Cops

APPLE VALLEY, MN — A Rosemount mom was sentenced to 90 days in jail and five years of probation Thursday for stealing $8,727 from the senior party fund at Eastview High School. Jill Lynn Fiedler, 38, pled guilty to one count of theft by temporary control, a felony.

Authorities said Fiedler funneled more than half of the missing $8,727 to her PayPal account for Pure Romance, a company she worked for that sells sex toys. Fiedler also wrote checks out to herself from the school fund account, according to the criminal complaint.

Apple Valley police spoke with members of the parent group, who said it was formed to fundraise and organize the senior party for 2017. In February of 2017 they discovered unusual transactions involving the bank account for the organization.

Members told police the treasurer of the group — Fiedler — was the only one with access to the group's bank accounts. They checked the bank account records and discovered several checks and debit card transactions.

When Fiedler was interviewed by officers, she admitted to making the transactions. She claimed to have made some of the transaction to obtain cash advances to purchase prize items for the party.

She said that she knew she would have to repay these funds, according to police.

Officers were told that as of April 11, 2017, none of the money had been returned to the group.

In court this week, Fiedler was ordered to pay restitution in an amount to be decided at a May 9 hearing.
