Tweets Cost South Metro School District $40K: Report
Only a few tweets will set the Rosemount-Eagan-Apple Valley school district back thousands.

ROSEMOUNT, MN — Twitter charges users no money to use its website. But three tweets and one retweet will set a south metro school district back $40,000.
The tweets resulted in a copyright infringement lawsuit filed by sports psychology author Keith Bell.
Bell claimed the Twitter accounts for the Rosemount girls basketball and Eastview wrestling teams tweeted a passage from his book but did not attribute it.

Additionally, an Eagan wrestling team account retweeted a similar post from a wrestling club on the east coast, according to the Pioneer Press.
The tweets were not covered by an $8,500 license agreement Bell and the district had agreed to in 2012, he claimed. Rosemount-Eagan-Apple Valley school district officials agreed to a $40,000 settlement last month.
