Winter Is Coming: Parking Restrictions In Apple Valley
Here's how to avoid a parking ticket in Apple Valley this winter.

APPLE VALLEY, MN — If you recently moved to Apple Valley, you may not know the city's winter parking rules. On-street parking is prohibited any time in the city while snowplowing or snow removal operations are in progress. On-street parking is prohibited from 3:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. throughout the year except in emergencies.
Vehicles are considered abandoned motor vehicles if:
- Parked on public property over 48 hours, or more than 4 hours on properly posted public
- property and are in an inoperable condition.
- Parked on private property over 72 hours without permission of the property owner and are in
- an inoperable condition.
- Parked outside on private property for 90 days or more and are not properly licensed for operation in the state.
No parking is permitted on grass, gravel, rocks, etc. All areas used for parking must be surfaced with concrete, asphalt or pavers. No more than four vehicles per dwelling unit may be routinely parked or stored anywhere outside on residentially zoned property.

An on-site parking permit may be obtained for two additional vehicles. One commercial vehicle, not over one ton capacity, may be parked at the owner’s or operator’s residence. No commercial vehicle in excess of one ton or commercial trailer may be parked or stored in a residential district except to load, unload or render a service.
No parking is ever permitted within 10 feet of a fire hydrant or mailbox.
