3. Dozens embrace cold and rain for Heroes on the Hill challenge (kimt.com) — In Burnsville, dozens of participants braved cold rain at Buck Hill for the Heroes on the Hill challenge, repeatedly running a one-mile loop to raise money. Their efforts support mental health resources and suicide prevention for first responders and veterans, honoring everyday heroes who serve the community.
4. Mary Hennessy has experienced more loss than most (thecatholicspirit.com) — A Burnsville Catholic pastor and parishioner have teamed up to publish a new spiritual book, "Daring Steps: From Darkness to Light," blending his icons with her decades of prayerful meditations. The 79-year-old author describes how loss, illness, and a year without speaking deepened her faith and inspired the collaboration, which has already sold hundreds of copies and sparked plans for a second volume.
5. Overseas Adventure Travel promised me a worth lock — after which broke it (fooshya.com) — A Burnsville traveler successfully challenged a $670 airfare surcharge after Overseas Adventure Travel tried to raise his locked-in price for a Spain and Portugal tour. By documenting everything and escalating his complaint, he ultimately received a full refund, offering a useful roadmap for other residents facing similar travel billing disputes or broken price-lock promises.
